Why it matters in DC

Superman's grandfather becomes the centre of a story set before Krypton's destruction. That change of generation gives the House of El a life and political history beyond its role in Clark's origin, without requiring the series to function as a prequel to every Superman adaptation.

Where it fits in the DC universe

Krypton is title 20 of 24 in our Live-action Elseworlds viewing sequence. Krypton centres an earlier generation of Superman's family in its own television story. It is not automatically the historical prologue to the classic Superman films, Man of Steel or the DCU. Follow the series' own account of the House of El rather than merging different adaptations' versions of Krypton's past.
