Choose your first DC universe
Three good starting points, depending on the kind of story you want.
For a contemporary shared world, start with the DC Universe. For a complete, grounded Batman story, choose The Dark Knight Trilogy. For a longer animated journey, explore the DC Animated Universe.
There is no need to finish every older adaptation before starting a new continuity. A familiar face or character can appear in several worlds with different histories.
Release order or universe order?
How to choose a viewing sequence without crossing the timelines.
Release order follows the dates attached to each title. It is an easy way to experience how screen adaptations developed, but jumps between unrelated worlds.
Universe order keeps connected adaptations together and uses an editorial sequence. It is a useful starting point, not a scene-by-scene chronology: stories with flashbacks, crossovers, and alternate cuts do not fit one universal timeline.
Use the watch-order guide to choose a continuity. Title pages identify curated prerequisites and explain important exceptions.
Make room for your next movie night
A practical guide to planning films and episodes around your week.
Filter the watchlist first, then choose Create schedule. Give each weekday a viewing allowance, choose your start time and latest finish, and set an optional target date.
Strict order keeps the selected sequence. Flexible order can fit a shorter title into a gap while respecting episode order and listed prerequisites. Films and episodes stay in one sitting; increase your window for longer titles.
Your plan excludes watched and skipped items. Unknown runtimes or unannounced release dates are left out and reported. Series runtimes use episode data where available, with estimates clearly indicated. Export an iCalendar file to use your plan in a calendar app.
